Terms of Service
The short version: Petla is a live plant care app with free and paid features. If you use Petla, create content, or buy a subscription, these terms apply.
Who these terms apply to
These terms govern your use of the Petla mobile app, the Petla website at petla.uk, and related Petla services, pages, and support channels. Petla is operated by Kameleonic Design, based in England, UK.
Eligibility and account responsibility
Petla is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If you become aware that a child under 13 has created a Petla account, please contact us at hello@petla.uk so we can take appropriate action, including account deletion.
You are responsible for the activity that takes place on your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure. You must provide accurate account information and must not access the service in a way that is unlawful, abusive, or intended to disrupt Petla or other users.
Using the service
Petla provides plant care, garden, journal, community, weather, subscription, notification, referral, and related features. We may change, improve, suspend, or remove features from time to time.
User content
You retain ownership of the content you submit to Petla. By submitting content, you grant Petla a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, process, display, transmit, moderate, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate and provide the service. This licence does not grant Petla the right to use your content to train machine learning or AI models.
You must not post or submit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, misleading, or otherwise harmful. We may remove content or limit access to accounts that break these rules.
Petla is a hosting provider for user-generated content and is not responsible for content created by users. We comply with our obligations under the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 and will act promptly upon receiving valid notices of illegal content.
Community and swaps
If you use community or swap features, you are responsible for your listings, messages, comments, and interactions with other users. Petla is not a party to offline transactions or arrangements between users.
Reporting harmful content
If you encounter content on Petla that you believe is unlawful, harmful, or in breach of these terms, you can report it by emailing hello@petla.uk with the subject line "Content Report". Include a description of the content and, if possible, a link or screenshot to help us investigate. We will review reports and take appropriate action.
Subscriptions and billing
Some Petla features require a paid subscription. Subscription purchases are billed through Google Play or the Apple App Store and managed through RevenueCat for entitlement syncing. Petla does not process payment card data directly.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, as selected at purchase) at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel at any time through your Google Play or App Store account settings.
Where a free trial is offered, you may be required to provide payment details at sign-up. The trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You will not be charged during the trial period itself.
Prices, trial offers, launch offers, and subscription features may change. Refunds, billing disputes, and payment methods are handled under the rules of the relevant app store. For Google Play purchases, refund requests are subject to the Google Play refund policy. Petla does not issue refunds directly for app store purchases.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, UK consumers have a statutory 14-day right to cancel digital service contracts. When you purchase a Petla subscription and request immediate access, you acknowledge that the service commences immediately and that your statutory cancellation right is waived accordingly. This does not affect any rights you may have under your app store's refund policy.
Deleting your Petla account does not automatically cancel app store billing. You must cancel recurring billing in Google Play or the App Store.
Feature access on subscription lapse
If your subscription expires or is cancelled, your account reverts to the free tier and you will lose access to paid features. Your data — including content created while on a paid plan — remains in your account and will not be deleted solely because your subscription ended. You can re-subscribe at any time to regain access to paid features.
Plant guidance disclaimer
Petla provides general plant information, reminders, identification assistance, and guidance for convenience. It is not a guarantee of plant health, safety, or outcome. You remain responsible for decisions you make using the service.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Petla available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, complete accuracy, or permanent availability of any feature, integration, or page.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, created risk for other users, misused the service, or where required for operational, legal, or security reasons.
Intellectual property
The Petla service, design, branding, content created by us, and related materials are owned by or licensed to Petla. You may not copy, reverse engineer, scrape, redistribute, or commercially exploit them except where the law allows or we give written permission.
Third-party services
Petla depends on third-party providers including Supabase, OneSignal, RevenueCat, Plant.id, and app store billing systems. We are not responsible for outages, acts, or omissions of third-party platforms outside our control.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Petla is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from use of the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Privacy
Your use of Petla is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and handle data.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except where mandatory local consumer law gives you additional rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will publish the updated version here and update the date at the top of the page.
